Pull Up To The Bumper | The Arcane of Dodgem
Anand Kumar and Julia Drouhin
Do dodgem cars dream of a life outside their electrified temple?
The Sphinx guards the entrance, peering deep into your soul to see if you are worthy. You enter their temple as the rider of the dodgem car.
The latest exhibition by Anand and Julia aims to take you deep into the trials of life as seen through the eyes of a Dodgem car and its immortal qualities. A place where nothing can harm you and for those few short minutes you are everything and anything you want to be.
Come down to Plimsoll Gallery and take a trip back to your dreams, your childhood and who knows where else…

ABOUT MOTION SENSOR
This presentation of Pull Up To The Bumper, The Arcane of Dodgem
is part of MOTION SENSOR, a new multi-year creative laboratory
series of experimental visual art and performance programs, exploring
how artists navigate the complexities of fixed domains.
Each year, we invite artists and creative practitioners to present current work in development, experimenting across art forms, revealing to us their practices of code-switching and navigating the complexities of containers that simultaneously hold us but also contain us. Through a series of cross-art form investigations, artists in this iteration of MOTION SENSOR interrogate institutional inertias, invisibilities of certain labour and care, nurture, and nostalgia.
