Micheila Petersfield - PhD examination

Virtual Femininity responds to self-imaging on social media and the ways the female body is mediated by technology, digital manipulation, and an image-based economy. Through self-portrait photography, the project critiques the feminine ideal and explores the boundary between beauty and the uncanny.
