Sociology from and for the Regions brings together researchers, students and community members to explore how sociology can deepen our understanding of life in regional Australia and support place-based approaches to social change.

Hosted at the University of Tasmania's Cradle Coast Campus in Burnie, the event will highlight Tasmanian stories and lived experiences, with a focus on issues affecting North West Tasmania, including education, health and wellbeing, housing, employment, ageing, community connection and inequality.

A key feature of the day will be a panel discussion combining academic expertise and community perspectives to examine resilience, connection, social change and the role of local voices in shaping research, policy and practice.

This free event welcomes researchers, students, practitioners, policymakers, community organisations and anyone interested in the future of regional Tasmania.
