Join award-winning Antarctic scientist, science communicator and prize-winning jam maker Dr Edward Doddridge for a conversation about what makes a great STEM engagement experience.
Drawing on years of experience sharing science with diverse audiences, Ed has a knack for making complex ideas clear, engaging and accessible. Recently recognised as Tasmania's 2024 Young Tall Poppy of the Year and awarded the 2025 Dr Peter Smith Medal by the Royal Society of Tasmania, he is known not only for his outstanding research, but also for his ability to share complex ideas with warmth, humour and clarity.

About our special guest
Dr Edward Doddridge, ARC DECRA in Physical Oceanography, Australian Antarctic Program Partnership Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania
Edward Doddridge is a prize-winning jam maker and Physical Oceanographer at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies in Tasmania. He uses supercomputers, mathematical theory and observations from the Southern Ocean to investigate changes in Antarctica's oceans and sea ice.
He studied Maths and Physics as an undergraduate at the University of Tasmania and obtained his doctorate from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. He subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before returning to Tasmania.
