Join us for the next Architecture & Design Speaker Series presentation featuring Professor Ari Seligmann: Imag(in)ing Japanese Architecture.
This presentation explores how Japanese architecture is presented, interpreted and understood through words and images. Ari will draw on his ongoing research into the ways media has shaped perceptions of Japanese architecture, including recent work examining influential Japanese photographers and key developments in architecture and photography.
The talk will also consider the broader network of people, publications and processes involved in producing architectural images, with particular attention to the powerful role photographers play in shaping how audiences experience and interpret architecture.
Ari Seligmann is an architectural critic, historian and designer whose work focuses on contemporary Japanese architecture and the relationship between architecture and media. He is Professor at Monash University, Associate Dean Education for the Art Design & Architecture Faculty, and Academic Lead AI in Education within the Deputy Vice Chancellor Education Portfolio.
