Warfarin home-monitoring pilot study incorporating electronic communication with GPs

This small pilot study assessed the feasibility of an alternative warfarin monitoring strategy involving the use of a point-of-care INR monitor and communication between the patient and GP via the internet. This involved the development of Homecare – an operational prototype of a broadband home-based healthcare platform. Homecare provided patients with online access to care routines and medication requirements, and enabled doctors to monitor their condition online.
