The economic value of Home Medicines Review (VALMER)

The Australian government funds pharmacists to perform medication reviews for people living at home through the Home Medicines Review (HMR) program. The VALMER project assessed the types of issues identified in HMRs and how they are resolved by pharmacists. The project also investigated the cost-effectiveness of HMRs by estimating their impact on drug costs, GP visits, specialist visits, hospitalisations and quality of life.

This project was funded by a Pharmacy Guild of Australia Investigator Initiated Grant.
