National Prescribing Service Drug Use Evaluations

This four year program examined hospital drug use, with the aim of implementing a number of quality improvement initiatives. The area of interest for 2006–07 was acute post-operative pain management (APOP). An APOP toolkit was developed for drug use evaluation in Australian hospitals. In 2008–09 the discharge management of acute coronary syndrome (DMACS) project was undertaken using targeted education interventions to improve practice.
