New Police Recruits Welcomed

Tasmania Police AcademyOn Tuesday, 17 May, at the Tasmania Police Academy, Associate Professor Roberta Julian, Associate Professor Angela Dwyer and Dr Isabelle Bartkowiak-Theron joined senior members of Tasmania Police to welcome twenty new Police recruits being inducted into Tasmania Police. Over a period of 29 weeks, new recruits will undertake training including investigations and operational skills, physical training, road policing and other important skills.

The group is the second of three recruit courses planned for 2016, and comprises of seven women and thirteen men, all coming from variety of backgrounds and different life experiences that will collectively contribute to their new profession in policing.

TILES is engaged with the School of Social Sciences in a successful collaboration between the University of Tasmania and the Department of Police and Emergency Management, in teaching and development of the Bachelor of Social Science (Police Studies) degree and programs.
