TILES Director attends AIPM Board of Studies and meets colleagues from forensic science research

Associate Professor Roberta Julian attended the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) Board of Studies meeting in Sydney on 10 February. Associate Professor Julian is an academic member of the Board of Studies which is comprised of learning and development representatives from all police jurisdictions in Australia and New Zealand.

While in Sydney, Associate Professor Julian joined research colleagues from the University of Technology Sydney (Prof. Claude Roux) and Western Sydney University (Prof. Chris Lennard and Prof. Tony Raymond) to discuss present and future forensic science research projects.

Associate Professor Julian was the Lead Chief Investigator of a five year project 'The Effectiveness of Forensic Science in the Criminal Justice System', and has been engaged in collaborative research exploring where and how forensic services can add value to police investigations and the courts. She also attended the regular meeting of fingerprint researchers at UTS at which honours and postgraduate students presented their current research projects.

A final stop was at the University of Canberra where Associate Professor Julian met with researchers (Prof. James Robertson and Dr Sally Kelty – TILES Adjunct Researcher) to discuss ongoing and future research collaborations.
