Introduction
This unit builds on the concepts of value chain management by using value chain analysis to improve the performance of a business. It introduces the purpose and use of value chain analysis to identify improvement opportunities for stakeholders in food and fibre supply/value chains. The opportunities include stakeholder co-operation, a focus on consumer value, improved information exchange and relationships, and greater efficiencies with and between businesses. Tools and techniques of value chain analysis will be introduced and illustrated through case studies and practical examples. You will use the results of value chain analysis to develop strategies for improved business performance.
