Introduction
This unit will introduce concepts in human resource management and client relations in the construction industry. You will develop leadership, people management and communication skills and techniques to support effective interaction with construction people and teams, clients, contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders. You will also learn and apply conflict resolution techniques and communication mindsets that address contemporary issues in the workplace.
In addition to this unit’s formal assessment activities, you will have the opportunity to develop a portfolio of evidence reflecting the development of your skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, and ethics and social responsibility.
You will be introduced to:
- a range of methods, tools, techniques and approaches to practice
- principles and perspectives such as values, ethics, empathy and leadership in real world scenarios
- reflection and deliberative thinking as a means of developing knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations
- ways of understanding problems and developing solutions through active inquiry
