Note:

Music performance requires a significant amount of time spent in regular practice in both solo and group settings. Ensemble work is an important and complementary activity to develop professional performance skill: all students in the performance major will be assigned to Conservatorium ensembles and are required to attend all rehearsals for concert performances

Students are expected to attend masterclasses of visiting artists specific to their field of study (ie classical or contemporary).

Introduction

The performance major is devoted to developing the student's awareness of how, why and what is required for musical expression at the practitioner level. In this fourth unit students build upon the performing methodologies established in the earlier units. Repertoire is chosen to complement the playing crafts and skills developed and introduced in the prior semester, so as to allow deeper awareness and reliance of the developing integration of craft and musical taste in performance.

Students undertake this study in the specialisation chosen in FCM215 Performance 2A.
