Music performance requires a significant amount of time spent in regular practice in both solo and group settings. Ensemble work is an important and complementary activity to develop professional performance skill: all students in the performance major will be assigned to Conservatorium ensembles and are required to attend all rehearsals for concert performances. Students are expected to attend masterclasses of visiting artists specific to their field of study (ie classical or contemporary).
Introduction
The performance major is devoted to assist the student in developing the physical skill and mental acuity necessary for success as a professional musician. In this fifth unit the primary focus is on the preparation and presentation of the repertoire required as part of the professional audition process.
Students undertake this study in the specialisation chosen in FCM216 Performance 2B.
