Music performance requires a significant amount of time spent in regular practice in both solo and group settings. Ensemble work is an important and complementary activity to develop professional performance skill: all students in the performance major will be assigned to Conservatorium ensembles and are required to attend all rehearsals for concert performances. Students are expected to attend masterclasses of visiting artists specific to their field of study (ie classical or contemporary).
Introduction
The performance major is devoted to assist the student in developing the physical skill and mental acuity necessary for success as a professional musician. In this sixth unit you will prepare and present a recital that emphasises the style and musical expertise you have developed throughout the three years of performance study.
You undertake this study in the specialisation chosen in FCM315 Performance 3A.
