Commencing candidates will demonstrate learning and ability in undertaking a practice-based research project through development, writing and presentation of their research objectives and an annotated bibliography or through development of a piece of spatialised writing that includes propositional, relational and critical forms of writing. For candidates who have completed more than six months of study and XGR501 and/or XGR502 learning and ability will be demonstrated through a written research context paper that will form the basis of their confirmation presentation.
Introduction
This unit introduces HDR candidates to the theory of creative practice research methodologies. The objective is to provide students with an understanding of various methodological issues and approaches related to creative practice research projects. Creative practice research projects seek to bring together theoretical and practical knowledge informed by practice–based, practice led or studio based research investigation. The unit will equip students with a theoretical framework with which to underpin their practice. It will enable students to make informed methodological choices relevant to their own work, from a broad spectrum of thematic approaches, related to current creative practice.
