Introduction

Visual Communication is arguably the most ubiquitous of all the visual arts.

To be able to communicate clearly and effectively it is essential for visual communicators to have a deep understanding and appreciation for conceptual development, process, typography and image making.

The emphasis for this studio is on conceptual development and experimentation; through thinking and making. The unit focuses on the landscape and languages of Visual Communication and its diverse applications, through a range of media, processes, design applications and typography.

Studio 2A will diversify and broaden your capacity to understand and engage with diverse materials, methodologies and processes associated with contemporary practice. Through group and individual tasks you will develop your ability to collaborate and experiment with materials, iterative process and idea development.

The emphasis is on exploring new mediums, materials and techniques with a view to developing an innovative and inquiring work practice. Through the guidance of staff, students are encouraged to develop independent learning (and thinking) strategies towards the development of individual expression and self- directed learning.
