Introduction

SCREENPRINTING AND DESIGN COMBINES will take you through the processes of screenprinting and design using the techniques of collage in developing artworks. Collage is a technique used by artists to bring disparate elements together and will be used as a tool for exploration.

The unit provides an understanding of the possibilities of using collage as a strategy for image construction and thinking through ideas. Screenprinting offers a process that will reveal the transformative potential of process and material engagement whilst design provides foundational tools for the construction of works.

Set projects and demonstrations will cover the key techniques and materials of design and screenprinting processes, while guiding you in how to use collage as a basis of image and concept development. The practical components of this unit will be supported by relevant examples of contemporary art and design.
