Introduction

This unit introduces students to the practices of creative thinking and idea generation, as well as introducing and developing foundational skills in electronics and digital production.

Using obstacles or obstructions as a creative catalyst/springboard for ideas generation, you will be challenged to take creative risks and respond collaboratively to a restricted brief, or a rule based system of production and/or limited/unconventional set of materials.

You will be introduced to a range of technologies and digital production strategies and must consider the affordances of techniques and materials in light of the set briefs.

In addition to engaging students in ideas generation through rapid turnaround of in-class creative projects, the unit will also provide an introduction to digital fabrication and electronics including wiring LEDs, working with sensors and integrated screens and projection systems.
