Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically assess and evaluate the social, cultural and political role of digital media storytelling in a dynamic and global communication environment;
  2. Design digital storytelling projects by applying and integrating strategies across a variety of relevant platforms.
  3. Communicate effectively across a variety of media platforms, including video, print and other online.
  4. Critically evaluate and discuss your media production experiences and the content you have produced in the context of key concepts in media and communication

Teaching Pattern

A total of 39 hours comprised of weekly 3-hour workshops that include a short lecture, in-class discussion and instruction on practical and technical skills and equipment use.

Assessment

Content proposal and presentation (2000 words equivalent); website with written, visual and audio content (4000 words equivalent); 2000 word exegesis.

Most JMC units have neither required nor recommended texts but if this unit does, information about these can be found at the CoOp Bookshop links below close to the start of semester. For the majority of units, a Reading List providing access to electronic readings is provided (if applicable) and this will be made available through MyLO and the Library at the beginning of semester.
