Introduction
This unit enables final year social work students to articulate and integrate their personal theoretical and philosophical approach to the realities of social work as political practice. Utilising explanations based in critical theory to inform and build reflexive practice aimed at change, students identify social issues from their placements to consolidate their approach and build their social work identity.
Please Note: HGW616 is a co-requisite for HGW613Social Work Practicum 2 and therefore the following applies to ensure eligibility for HGW616 as well as for HGW613:
Students enrolled in the Master of Social Work are required to provide a new National Police Certificate in Semester 1 for each year that a Professional Education Placement is undertaken. In accordance with the University of Tasmania Safe to Practice Policy and Work Health and Safety Policy, students are also required to sign a 'Safe to Practice' agreement in Semester 1 regarding their medical, physical and psychological capacity to practice safely on placement and without adverse impact on themselves, professional colleagues or clients.
