Introduction
Offers an introduction to current thinking on the character of terrorism, its definitional ambiguity and its relationship to globalisation and the internationalisation of the media. The unit examines the emergence of terror strategies after 1945 and through an investigation of a number of case studies, considers both the strategic use and ideological justification of terror during the Cold War and the changing nature of terror in the post Cold War era of low intensity conflict.
