Introduction
This unit provides students with an understanding of the contemporary nature of policing. Students will learn about the histories, governance, theories, and processes involved in policing work. It is recommended for those interested in pursuing a career in the police service as well as those occupational groups that routinely work closely with the police.

- introductory skills with writing in the form of essays and discussion forums, and conducting and reporting on social observation of policing and security in public spaces
