Introduction
In this unit, you will explore central concepts related to effective governance: leadership and management; and public policy. You will explore the differences between leadership and management and learn about a wide range of leadership theories and case studies that inform the notions of leadership. You will use these as a lens through which to critically analyse your own practice in your own workplace context. You will also critically examine a public policy of strategic importance to your workplace.
This unit comprises three phases of delivery facilitated in three environments: online (in MyLO); at the Tasmania Police Academy (classroom); and in the workplace. It will enable you to: understand your role as a strategic manager and leader in your organisation; continue to develop your ability to shape your organisation as the environment changes to align with communities’ expectations; and to enter into whole of life personal holistic development practice.
