Introduction

The unit will introduce students for the legal, professional and ethical basis of health care in Australia and prepare them for studies in health professional courses. This unit integrates three areas of study: Introduction to higher education study in Australia, which is a generic module that introduces students to knowledge about standard academic conventions, expectations, policies and requirements for studying an entry level health professional course. Introduction to health care in Australia, which is a generic module that introduces students to the Australian health care context, as well as the legal, professional and ethical basis of health care in Australia.
Introduction to professional practice in Australia, which is a discipline specific module that introduces students to national regulatory frameworks, competency standards, professional regulation matters and scope of practice.
