Note:

Professional Experience Placement (PEP)

Students will be allocated PEP within individual health care agencies. Students must be available 5 days a week (mornings, evenings, weekends, nightshifts, as per roster), may be expected to relocate and are expected to travel to where PEP is available. To be eligible to undertake PEP, all students must be ‘Verified’ as meeting College of Health and Medicine PEP Safety in Practice Compliance as per the Course Entry Requirements.

Students who cannot or do not comply with these requirements will not be allocated PEP and therefore will not be able to complete this unit.

PEP dates MAY differ from University of Tasmania calendar semester dates.

Introduction

This unit builds on the learning from Nursing Practice 3 and incorporates 240 hours of Professional Experience Placement (PEP). The unit focuses on assisting the student to transition to professional practice as a Registered Nurse through assessment of their progress towards the necessary capabilities of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Registered nurse standards for practice (2016). Resources emphasising “thinking and acting like a registered nurse” will assist the student to begin consolidating skills in meaningful reflective practice. Students will further develop their Professional Portfolio in this unit.
