This is an advanced level elective unit
Introduction
Cognitive neuroscience utilises a range of scientific techniques to examine the link between the neural organisation of the brain and various cognitive functions, such as how we think, feel and act. This unit builds on the intermediate material covered in KHA208 (Cognition) and KHA258 (Behavioural Neuroscience). The lectures will balance cognitive theory with neuroscientific evidence and will cover topics such as perception, attention, motor control, learning and memory, hemispheric lateralisation, emotion, and language.
Compulsory practical classes will build on topics covered in lectures through interactive activities and demonstrations, and students will practice advanced research skills, including the analysis, interpretation and write up of experimental research.
