Introduction

This unit aims to provide clinical supervision and training to students engaged in psychology placements. Clinical practice and/or ethical issues relevant to the practice and profession of psychology are discussed and problem solved. The format involves student case presentations with professional input from the unit coordinator and peer review facilitated by the Unit Coordinator. The schedule for student case presentations will be
determined in the first class in Week 1.

Discussions are also linked to clinical theory and externs are assisted to develop skills in self‐evaluation of their clinical competencies and to identify goals and strategies for enhancing their best practise in the context of the scientist practitioner framework. Students also learn the skills for writing succinct and professional therapy reports for referral agencies and case files.
