Note
Please check that your computer meets the minimum System Requirements if you are attending via Distance/Off-Campus.
Units are offered in attending mode unless otherwise indicated (that is attendance is required at the campus identified). A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.
Special approval is required for enrolment into TNE Program units.
TNE Program units special approval requirements.
* The Final WW Date is the final date from which you can withdraw from the unit without academic penalty, however you will still incur a financial liability (see withdrawal dates explained for more information).
Learning Outcomes
ILO 1 Develop the steps in the execution of an engineering-design project:
a. For the given objective(s), constraints, and requirements identify the appropriate design parameters, assumptions, and alternatives.
b. Apply discipline-specific technical concepts to select the appropriate design option(s) of an ocean vehicle, structure, or system.
c. Apply the appropriate engineering methodology to evaluate the design options and develop the selected option into a final design.
d. Critically assess the design and its execution, and recommend potential improvements, if any.
ILO 2 Establish, monitor and review your own system of time and resource management to ensure progress and maintain the integrity of the design output in a functional multi-disciplinary team.
ILO 3 Develop written and oral technical communication skills
