Introduction

This unit integrates knowledge from other units in the course with new concepts around the topics of government policy, planning and costing of production, facility design, farm management, product development & quality, marketing, environmental impact assessment, animal welfare and sanitary regulations, to provide students with an appreciation and understanding of regulatory and commercial aspects of production. Lectures and tutorials are strengthened with guest speakers from industry, government and the business sectors. This unit uses the formulation of a business plan as a core focus for the activities.
