Introduction

This unit provides students with an understanding of the principles of mechanics relating to marine power plant and associated structures and systems required by the Engineering Watchkeeper involved in operating such a plant.
This unit lays the foundation for Marine Engineers at operational level to comprehend principles of Applied Mechanics that will enable them to apply and manage these functions at Marine Engineer Class 2 and 1 level.

This unit meets the requirements of knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out by the Maritime Training Package TDM50207, the STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments) and Table A-III/1 of the STCW code.
