Launceston

Introduction

This unit provides students with the knowledge and skills to plan, manage and carry out engineering operations, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engine and ancillary systems on commercial vessels. This includes the design, operational principles, construction, safety, statutory requirements, trouble shooting, testing and measurements, repairs and maintenance to enable safe and efficient operation of the machinery from an operational level engineer. It also includes liaison with internal and external stakeholders.

This unit meets the requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out by the Maritime Training Package TDM50207, the STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments) and Table A-III/1 of the STCW code.
