Introduction
This unit will provide students with an introduction to computer programming and its role in problem solving. The fundamental concepts of programming will be introduced. These include: the memory model, data types, declarations, expressions and statements, control structures, block structure, methods and parameters, classes and objects, exception handling, graphical user interfaces, and text-based input and output. The unit is an applied unit with a focus on engaging students in gaining practical skills and abilities as well as an understanding of general-purpose programming. Students will undertake their programming in Python.
