Tasmanian Medical Orchestra

About the Orchestra

The Tasmanian Medical Orchestra (TMO) was first formed in 2014 and was initially intended for UTAS staff and students within health-related fields of study. Now, we welcome members from all over the university and we are currently home to members from the College of Health and Medicine, the College of Sciences and Engineering, the Conservatorium of Music, Marine and Antarctic Studies, among others!

The TMO is a relaxed group which provides an opportunity to decompress and have some fun creating music together on a weekly basis with concerts at the end of every semester. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at the Hobart Clinical School on Collins St, Hobart.

Whether you are an experienced musician or a beginner with a passion for music, we have a place for you! Please don’t hesitate to fill in the Expression of Interest form below if the TMO sounds like a group you’d like to join, and one of our friendly committee members will get in touch with you shortly!

Our Conductor

Angus Deeth joined the Medical Orchestra in 2018, as a guest clarinetist, while studying at the Conservatorium of Music. He has played regularly with us ever since and in 2021 was excited to step into a leadership role in the ensemble as Guest Conductor. Now a graduate of the Conservatorium, Angus is delighted to be the conductor of Tasmania's most enthusiastic ensemble!
