Like many regional areas of Australia, we know there are poor health outcomes among northwest Tasmanians and we know the rates of many chronic health conditions, including arthritis, asthma, cancer, heart, stroke and vascular disease and osteoporosis are higher in Tasmania than the national rate, according to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). HealthFest will be a unique two-day event that will contribute to creating a better understanding of these issues among the community.
HealthFest has been created because we decided the best way help change health outcomes in northwest Tasmania is through engaging people in talks and activities that build awareness and help to change attitudes and behaviours about living healthier and therefore longer and better.
