Many short courses are available as flexible, stand-alone learning opportunities, while others allow you to gain credit towards a tertiary qualification.

Frequently asked questions

Things to know before registering

Each short course is priced individually according to its delivery requirements and duration. Please refer to each short course page for the exact price.

Full payment is required at the time of registration via the registration link at the top of each short course page above.

You can pay for your short course using a Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card through our secure online checkout.

Most of our short courses are non-accredited and do not satisfy the requirements for a tertiary-level award (eg. a diploma or bachelor’s degree). If you register in a non-accredited short course, you will be awarded a digital Certification of Completion from the University of Tasmania.

There are a few exceptions where our short courses are micro-credentials. This means that on completion of these short courses, you may be eligible to receive credit towards a broader award course (eg. a diploma or bachelor’s degree). These are noted on the relevant individual short course pages above.

Yes. A digital Certificate of Completion will be made available to you once you have successfully completed your short course.

To view your Certificate/s of Completion, log in to the online learning platform and in the drop-down menu on the top right corner of your screen you can select ‘certificates’.

Registering and getting started

Simply click on the short course you’re interested in undertaking above, and then click ‘Register’ at the top of the course page. From there, you will be able to create an account, register and pay for your short course upfront.

Yes, many of our short courses will be offered more than once.

If you would like to be contacted when a particular short course becomes available, please complete the expression of interest form on the short course page you’re interested in.

After you register in a short course, you will receive an email confirming your place in the short course and contact details specific to the short course you are undertaking.

Please check that your personal details are correct, including your name and email address.

If there are further details to be confirmed, such as workshop location and times, we will contact you prior to your course commencing via the email address provided.

No. There is no live or real-time material, so you can log on at any time throughout the duration of the short course.

The duration of each short course is different. Please refer to individual short course pages for the exact duration.

Accessing content and course delivery

Our short courses are offered either online, via face-to-face workshops, or by combination of both. Please refer to individual short course pages above to check how they are delivered.

While many of our short courses include short quizzes and interactive activities to guide your knowledge, no exams are required. Please refer to the ‘How you will Learn’ information on each short course page above, which outlines the tailored learning activities.

As the short courses run for only a short period of time, unfortunately we cannot offer extensions or access to the course after the closing date.

If you have registered in a short course which has a workshop component, and unforeseen circumstances arise which prevent you from attending the workshop, contact us at short.course@utas.edu.au as soon as possible.

Troubleshooting and more information

If you have forgotten your password to access the online learning platform, you can reset your password by clicking the ‘log in’ button above, and then clicking ‘forgot password’.

Refunds can only be granted if you have not accessed the course content and if the circumstances preventing you from completing the course are unforeseen and out of your control.

Decisions regarding refunds will be made by and at the discretion of the University. To request a refund, please complete the Refund request form, which can also be found at the bottom of each short course page above.
