Rozelle students take part in multi-casualty simulation

Newsroom

Rozelle Campus' nursing and paramedicine students recently held a multi-casualty training exercise on campus.

The event was a simulated concert with a fire breaking out on stage.  Students worked together to treat critically injured patients and transport them to the nearby emergency department (nursing teaching labs) staffed by student nursing colleagues.

The simulation event was made possible with the support provided by nursing and paramedicine academics, professional staff, NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW. Sponsorship was also provided by the Australasian College of Paramedicine.

“These types of responses require practice to ensure the safety and timely care of the community. We hope that this becomes an annual event at both our NSW and Hobart campuses,”  Associate Professor Belinda Flanagan, Associate Dean Rozelle Precinct and Head of the School of Paramedicine, said.

“Special thanks to paramedic student Lucy Castelletti for leading the event and making the day a success.”
