deCODES - Explorer Challenge Student Team Prize Winners

Team deCODES has won the Student Team Prize in the Unearthed / Oz Minerals Explorer Challenge!

The challenge attracted over a thousand participants globally, and required the team to trawl through several terabytes of data from OZ Minerals' Mount Woods tenement in South Australia in order to produce exploration targets.

Chris Leslie

Chris is a CODES PhD candidate researching porphyry and epithermal deposits in the Cowal District of New South Wales as part of the Ore deposits and tectonic evolution of the Lachlan Orogen, SE Australia ARC Linkage project.

Shawn Hood

Shawn Hood

Shawn is a TMVC/CODES PhD candidate who recently submitted his thesis on machine learning and automated geoscientific analyses for the spatial characterisation of metalliferous ore deposits as part of the Interpreting structural and geochemical patterns using machine learning project.

Angela Escolme

Angela Escolme

Angela is a TMVC postdoctoral research fellow working within the Optimising geometallurgical prediction theme which falls under the CODES Geometallurgy, geoenvironment and mining research program.

Angela is also a TMVC/CODES PhD graduate.

Matt Cracknell

Matt Cracknell

Matt is a TMVC postdoctoral research fellow working within the Underpinning technologies research area, his projects fall under the CODES Geophysics & computational geosciences research program.

Matt is also a CODES PhD graduate.

 

Ayesha Ahmed

Ayesha is a TMVC/CODES PhD candidate who recently submitted her thesis on the effect of pressure/depth on propylitic alteration mineral chemistry in the porphyry environment as part of the Applying the explorers' toolbox to discover porphyry and epithermal Cu, Au and Mo deposits (AMIRA P1153) project.
