The Teach Tasmania Scholarship is available to eligible Bachelor of Education and Master of Teaching students studying full-time at the University of Tasmania from 2024.
Teach Tasmania will make it easier for students in challenging circumstances to enter the Bachelor of Education, while also supporting our high-achieving graduates into the Master of Teaching.
Fifty Teach Tasmania Scholarships will be made available, initially to eligible students who enrolled in the Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching in 2023 or who have applied to these courses for 2024.
The scholarship will support relocation and accommodation costs as well as the cost-of-living pressures affecting students.
Successful Bachelor of Education students who relocate from regional areas and can demonstrate financial need will receive $28-31,000 over four years. Those not relocating but who can demonstrate financial need will receive $26,000.
Successful Master of Teaching students who relocate from regional areas and can demonstrate financial need will receive $16-19,000 over two years. Those not relocating but who can demonstrate financial need will receive $14,000. Other successful Master of Teaching students will still receive $8,000.
Recipients need to be Tasmanian residents, undertake their placements in Tasmanian public schools and study full-time throughout their degrees.
Applications are now open and will close on 1 December 2023 at 5.00pm.
