Introduction

The Unit introduces students to the Australian and Hong Kong legal systems in the context of business and covers a range of topics relating to the business environment, including:

  • An introduction to the Australian and Hong Kong legal systems and the sources of law (enacted and unenacted) applicable in each:
  • The law of torts*The law of contract;
  • Consumer Law;
  • Agency Law; and
  • Business structures and basic Australian corporate law and governance principles.

Where applicable comparisons between Australian and Hong Kong law in these areas (where they differ substantially) will be drawn.
