Introduction

In this unit you will explore the importance of agribusiness management plans, links with business strategy and how agribusiness managers can integrate the outputs of planning into business management and operations.  Planning is an essential activity for agribusiness managers in order to guide the allocation of valuable resources to priority areas. Concepts and techniques will be introduced to assist in the development, implementation and review of agribusiness management plans. This includes an introduction to examples of agribusiness management plans and case studies from industry.

Students will experiment with various analytical tools used to identify a business's strengths and weaknesses and integrate these results into management decision making to evaluate business opportunities and challenges.

This unit also incorporates learning through practice by exposing you to authentic learning experiences. These experiences are placed at the centre of learning and assessment, for you to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to respond to industry, community and/or global needs.

You will be introduced to:

a range of methods, tools, techniques and approaches to practice

principles and perspectives such as values, ethics, empathy and leadership in real world scenarios

reflection and deliberative thinking as a means of developing knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations

ways of understanding problems and developing solutions through active inquiry.
