Introduction
Building on the skills and knowledge you gained in ZAE105 ‘Introduction to Fabrication’, you will extend your ability to work with additional techniques and elements of fabrication, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. You will also develop your ability to interpret technical drawings and job specifications by extending your knowledge of mathematical, statistical, mechanics, geometry and other engineering concepts. You will be supported by a substantial online learning resource that will enable you to extend your current level of understanding in these areas of knowledge through a combination of self-paced and formally assessed tasks. Applying these extended skills and knowledge, and your previous experience with fabrication, Lean manufacturing and quality management approaches, you will focus on measuring and assuring quality, consistency and efficiency of your fabrication outputs. This project proposal and design work completed in ZAE202 Manufacturing Project and ZAE204 Advanced Equipment Design are now implemented ahead of the handover to the industry client in ZAE207 Project Closure and Review unit.
