Introduction

The aim of this unit is to engage in action research to reflect on and improve your own practice. Action research is an evidence-based approach to improving teaching practice and in this unit, you will integrate practice, action, theory and research in a very practical way. In the unit, you will identify an issue in your own practice which is of interest or concern to you and you will be guided through the observation and reflection phases of the action research cycle to take action. The unit serves as a core feature of your Postgraduate Coursework, by enabling you to apply the knowledge you have gained from the other units to address issues in your own professional context.
