Note:

Students who undertake this course as a fully online unit should note that for Assessment Task 2 you will need access to a group of children and a video camera for a 20 minute teaching activity.

Introduction

In this unit, you will be introduced to drama and dance as key Primary and Early Childhood learning areas as well as core components of the Australian Curriculum. You will explore how students learn about and through the arts, with a particular focus on how drama and dance can be integrated across the curriculum.  The unit has a strong practical and applied dimension, where you will be required to plan, teach, record and critically reflect on a dance and/or drama learning sequence.  By the end of this unit, you will be able demonstrate a critical understanding of drama and dance education, including the ways in which students learn in the arts, and demonstrate the unique pedagogical skills required.
