Introduction

This unit will allow you to reflect on your teaching skills and strategies by becoming familiar with the latest research on learning and teaching and applying the results of this research to examine teaching and learning in your field.  You will master the key theoretical concepts related to learning and teaching in contemporary school education. You will have the opportunity to explore the ways research informs pedagogical practice in the classroom and assess the significance of various effective pedagogies for learning. The aim of the unit is for you to be conscious of your own pedagogical thinking and assess your instructional approaches by reflecting on your own teaching.
