Introduction
Music Skills B continues study of the fundamental materials of tonal music and music literacy through the study of notation and reading skills. Students will demonstrate fluency in music notation and reading, through written and performance-based exercises. Students will demonstrate further understanding of the principles of pitch organisation of tonal music, and principles of metric organisation. Through the establishment of a working understanding of the characteristics of music undertaken in Music Skills A, students will continue to advance their theoretical skills in reading and writing, and further develop the relationship of notation to musical sound, the study of which will be supported by appropriate aural development through performance and reading exercises.
