Introduction

Building on first year screen analysis skills, this unit examines video games and virtual worlds from the perspective of text, industry, and audience.  You will explore, analyse and discuss topics including: fandom and video game communities; storytelling and innovation in the games industry; learning through video games; and political power and activism.  You will also have the opportunity to engage with and participate in contemporary debates around video games as art; video games and violence; women and gaming; and piracy.

For Bachelor of Media and Bachelor of Media with Honours students: 4 HEJ level 100 units

For students outside the Bachelor of Media: 2 HEJ level 100 units
