Introduction

This unit combines creative practice with business acumen to help students become independent, innovative and successful media and communications practitioners working across a range of industries and platforms.

Offered as an intensive face-to-face week in Hobart supported by online activities, the unit exposes students to key skills including pitch and persuasion, leading a team, producing a strategic plan and forming creative businesses. It also introduces students to policy, legal and financial frameworks and examines the activities, structures and opportunities of media and communications industries in Australia and internationally.

Students who complete this unit can continue on to HEJ414 Topic in JMC, in which they will apply the learning from this unit to independently produce an industry-ready proposal and research project under supervision.
