Introduction
This unit provides a solid foundation for working with involuntary clients and in multi-disciplinary teams. It emphasises the importance of human rights, consumer rights and participation. In particular, it focuses on the specialist fields of mental health and child protection and includes a study of contemporary theories and practice models, as well as legal, ethical and organisational issues related to both fields. The process of critical reflection will consistently be used to explore the political, cultural and personal contexts of social work practice in these areas and to assist students in the development of individual frameworks of practice.
