Japanese 2B HMJ205
Introduction
Building on from HMJ204, the unit further develops basic grammatical knowledge and oral/aural skills. Students will learn to converse in Japanese on a series of everyday life topics including: transport, health, life and careers, communication and the media. Upon completion of this unit, students will have learnt most of the basic grammatical structures. Attention is also given to the reading and writing of Japanese. Students will learn 80 new kanji and will have learnt approximately 320 kanji by the end of this unit. Students' general proficiency in Japanese should reach the equivalent of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) Level N4.

Learning Outcomes
- Develop a basic understanding of the essential grammatical structures in Japanese.
- Write 320+ kanji and recognise an additional 50 kanji.
- Identify basic vocabulary and expressions related to everyday life topics including transportation, health, life and careers, mass media and natural environments
- Conduct basic conversations in Japanese on a range of topics
- Produce a short composition in Japanese on a range of topics.
